The Ministries Appeal provides the opportunity to support our broader Church family in the Diocese of Duluth through support for Education & Family, Evangelization & Outreach and Vocation & Clergy Support. 
We believe that every parish and parishioner is responsible not only for his or her parish but for the well-being of the Church throughout the diocese and the world. The ministries of The Ministries Appeal provide support to all parishes and people within our Diocese regardless of location.

Education & Family

Forming Hearts, Strengthening Families, Building the Future

In our Catholic Schools, students are nurtured in both faith and academic excellence, growing into leaders who live the Gospel in everyday life. Through catechesis and the OCIA process, seekers and lifelong Catholics alike deepen their understanding of Jesus Christ and His Church, guided by passionate catechists and evangelists. Our Youth and Young Adult Ministry strengthens parish efforts by equipping youth ministers with ongoing spiritual and professional formation, while hosting retreats and events that ignite young hearts for Christ.

The Marriage and Family Ministry uplifts couples and families, promoting a Catholic vision that celebrates the sacredness of love and encourages strong, faith-filled homes. And through our Pro-life outreach, we uphold the dignity of every human life — from conception to natural death — offering compassionate support and a prophetic witness to the value of life.

Evangelization & Outreach

Through our communications efforts, we reach both the faithful and the broader community with messages that inform, inspire and invite all to know and love Jesus Christ. Social outreach answers our baptismal call to serve, building networks of care and resources for those in need — whether in rural towns or urban neighborhoods.

At the University of Minnesota Duluth, your generosity strengthens Newman Ministry, ensuring every student is seen, known and loved — and, most importantly, has a personal encounter with Christ. Our diocesan Liturgy Office provides resources for celebrating the Church’s sacred rites and deepening our understanding of divine worship, enriching parish life across the region.

Behind the scenes, donor support empowers essential services that keep our ministries running smoothly. Information technology connects Catholic organizations through tools that foster collaboration and efficiency. Parish Financial Support Services guides parishes in stewardship and accountability, while human resources ensures those who serve the Church are supported with care and professionalism.

Your gift also brings Christ’s presence to those in the margins. Through Prison Ministry, incarcerated individuals receive spiritual direction and access to the sacraments, and in hospitals, patients receive sacramental care, crisis support and comfort in times of grief, suffering and dying. Your generosity also helps extend pastoral outreach to Native American communities, honoring their traditions while sharing the hope and mercy of the Gospel.

Vocation & Clergy Support

Nurturing Vocations, Supporting Shepherds

Your support makes it possible for men to discern a call to the priesthood, offering them guidance and formation as they journey through seminary, growing as disciples with a deep desire to shepherd God’s flock.

For those discerning a vocation to the permanent diaconate, your generosity provides the resources and formation needed to prepare them for a life of service — assisting in liturgy, performing sacraments and supporting parish communities alongside priests. Your gift also ensures that our current priests continue to grow in their ministry through ongoing formation, deepening their spiritual lives and enhancing their ability to meet the evolving needs of the faithful.
