Duluth Benedictine Ministries, a Ministerial Public Juridic Person (MPJP), was honored to welcome Bishop Daniel Felton as the keynote speaker for the opening of our Benedictine Leadership Formation Program on Wednesday, July 29th. Bringing together leaders from our five sponsored ministries, the program is designed to be a transformative journey that deepens participants' understanding of Benedictine spirituality, strengthens their capacity for mission-centered leadership, and equips them to carry the healing ministry of Jesus into the future.

Bishop Felton's keynote, "Being Called to Serve...Carrying Out the Love of Jesus and the Mission of the Sisters," provided a powerful foundation for this shared journey. He reflected on the vocation of leadership as a sacred call to serve, inviting participants to see their work not simply as organizational leadership, but as faithful stewardship of the Benedictine charism entrusted to our ministries.

One of the most memorable themes of his presentation was the beautiful image of the "dance" with the Holy Spirit. As leaders discern decisions that impact those they serve, Bishop Felton reminded us that authentic leadership is not a solitary endeavor. Rather, it is a continual movement of listening, trusting, and responding to the Spirit's gentle guidance. His reflections were both moving and deeply affirming, encouraging participants to embrace discernment with openness, humility, and courage.

The morning concluded with Bishop Felton celebrating Mass in the Chapel, offering a prayerful and grace-filled beginning to the formation experience. His message resonated deeply with the purpose of the Benedictine Leadership Formation Program: to form leaders whose decisions are rooted in faith, inspired by the Gospel, and guided by the enduring mission of the Benedictine Sisters.
